These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the FocalReader browser extension and the focalreader.com website (together, the "Service"). By installing the extension or visiting the website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who we are

FocalReader is built and operated by Ajit Soni (the "Developer" / "we" / "us"). You can reach us at support@focalreader.com.

2. License to use the extension

We grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use FocalReader for your own personal or internal business reading purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not:

• Copy, modify, reverse engineer, or disassemble the extension except to the extent permitted by law.
• Re-distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or host the extension yourself.
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices.
• Use the extension to violate someone else's rights or any applicable law.

3. Pricing

FocalReader is free. There is no paid tier and no in-app purchases. We may introduce paid features in the future; if and when we do, these Terms will be updated and only future features may be paid — existing free functionality will not become paid.

4. Availability and updates

We work to keep the Service running smoothly, but we don't guarantee it will always be available, bug-free, or compatible with every website or browser. We may release updates that change or remove features at our discretion.

5. Your content and privacy

FocalReader doesn't store or transmit the content of the pages you read. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data is handled and how.

6. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. FocalReader is a reading aid. It is not a medical device and doesn't diagnose or treat any condition.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO $20.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

8. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (licenses granted to us, limitations of liability, governing law) will survive.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India , without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your place of residence.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material, we'll give reasonable advance notice through the extension or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
